Freight Payment Analyst
SUMMARY:
Expand your professional portfolio as a Freight Payment Analyst with Ingevity in North Charleston, SC. As the Freight Payment Analyst, you will research and resolve discrepancies in freight with carriers, vendors, and the plants using the TMS and SAP systems. This is a long-term, contract position.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of finance, accounting, or transportation audit experience
- 4-year degree in Finance or Accounting (preferred)
- Experienced in Microsoft Office, strong Microsoft Excel skills required
- Experience and knowledge in audit and reconciliation processes and practices
- Strong data skills primarily in excel spreadsheets, data mining, and data presentation

Understanding of basic financial/costs analysis techniques, reporting, and principles

Written and verbal communication skills that explain process flows, accounting flows, and audit practices, and to work with plant, accounting, and transportation representatives
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with transportation management to develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely payment for freight expense
- Assist in the development of an automated freight bill and pay system as directed by management
- Resolve and reconcile carrier rating and billing discrepancies that exist within various Ingevity systems (TMS, SAP, etc.)
- Identify and communicate inaccurate freight rates in the TMS system to Freight Bill Audit Team Leader
- As directed, perform historical cost analysis and administrative duties in support of Transportation Team projects
- Audit freight invoice exceptions daily
- Review for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and approve and pass on to manual payment system for processing
- Communicate daily with carrier representatives to revolve billing / payment issues
- Ensure compliance with Transportation Services Agreement payment term
- Resolve discrepancies, short-pays, and aging, etc.
- Resolution to be maintained within a 48-hour "window" unless exceptions require further investigation
- Perform additional task as assigned
