Plant Cost Accountant

As a Plant Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for the daily management of plant finances, including forecasting, analysis, management reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls and compliance. This is a direct hire opportunity.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (preferred) (CMA is a plus)
- 3+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in a manufacturing environment
- Solid understanding of US GAAP
- Knowledge of standard costing
- Experience with Accounts Receivable and Payable processing
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
- Action-oriented, customer-focused, strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Cross-cultural sensitivity and the ability to act with integrity and respect
- Experience with ERP systems [Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains)/JD Edwards]
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office with expert-level Excel skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that appropriate accounting and Atkore financial practices are followed
- Maintain general ledger and related general accounting processes
- Manage month, quarter, and year-end closing activities, prepare and post journal entries, review manufacturing expenses, and complete account reconciliations
- Satisfy Atkore reporting requirements and provide management with the reliable information necessary to control operations
- Process accounts payable for the plant expenses and raw material purchasing (Atlanta only)
- Process Accounts Receivable tasks (Atlanta only)
- Analyze results and report variances against budget and expectations
- Recommend corrective actions as indicated by performance to meet P&L and working capital targets
- Ensure the bill of material and costing accurately reflects production operations
- Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results
- Investigate book to physical adjustments made during the cycle and annual inventory counts
- Perform detailed analyses for purchase price variances on materials, excess and obsolete inventory
- Assist in preparation for yearly budget and monthly forecasts
- Work as a member of the team with other Atkore finance leaders and support global finance initiatives

- Create and modify standard work and ensure consistent application by all team members
- Other duties as assigned
